He started his career with the hospitality industry in Sydney, Australia. It was in 2009 that he made his debut in his acting career with the television role in which he played a trapped student in two episodes of the Australian series Home and Away. The next three years, that is 2012 to 2015 JayR was seen in short films like Simone Pietro Felice’s The Life Again, Samuel Leighton-Dore’s Showboy, and The Wake by Leigh Joel Scott. He also made an appearance in two episodes of the Australian series Rake.

He decided to move to Canada to continue pursuing his acting ambitions in early 2017. It was in September 2018 that he joined the cast of the American series Another Life which was broadcast on Netflix in 2019. Katee Sackhoff, Tyler Hoechlin, Justin Chatwin, Samuel Anderson, and Elizabeth Ludlow are all part of this series. In Another Life, he plays Zayn Petrossian a non-binary military doctor aboard the space ships Salvare. He was always also seen in the Netflix film Always Be My Maybe by Nahnachka Khan in the same year.
