He also has a brother Naga Chaitanya (Half-Brother). He is unmarried and was in a relationship with Shriya Bhupal.

His sister-in-law Samantha Akkineni is also an actor. Akhil did his schooling from Chaitanya Vidyalaya, Oakridge International School, Hyderabad, India.
