Tyler Lee Hoechlin is an American actor. Born on September 11, 1987, in Corona California, Hoechlin is known for his roles as Tom Hank’s son in Road to Perdition (2002), Everybody Wants Some!! (2016) and Supergirl (2015). In the upcoming season of “Superman and Louis”, Tyler is expected to get a fresh look as Clark Kent. The 34-year-old actor showed off his new Superman suit while filming a few scenes on Wednesday (December 9) in Vancouver, Canada.
It is also rumored that he will be back with his co-stars Arden Cho, Daniel Sharman, and Michael Johnston in the upcoming Teen Wolf: The Movie. We did not get to see him in Batman vs Superman as Batman but we surely will see him in his red cape in the second season of Superman and Louis. In an interview with Empire, Hoechlin revealed that his time working on “Road to Perdition” helped him realize that he really enjoyed acting and that if his dream of baseball didn’t work out, he would become an actor.
Apart from acting Tyler has also been a baseball player. He began playing the game at the age of seven. In the years 2004 and 2005, he played in the Area Code Games. He even earned a scholarship to Arizona State University, for which played infield and the team made it to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
After the Arizona year, he was transferred to the University of California, Irvine. He played for the UC Irvine Anteaters as the infield second baseman. He also played in collegiate summer leagues during this time.
At a time, he did aim to build a career in baseball, giving it priority over his acting skills. Due to this, he turned down many auditions and meetings and even the role of Emmette Cullen for the Twilight series.
He pulled his hamstring which limited his ability to play and practice, during his junior year in college. This led him to participate in a number of auditions and finally decide to pursue acting as a full-time job on the advice of his coach.
Tyler did appear in the media before he could play baseball and that was when he was just a baby. Due to this could successfully audition at an acting school and even got himself an agent. His first role was in Happy Hunting which was a Disney Sing-Along Song video, at the age of 11. He was selected to play Micheal Sullivan Jr. in the movie Road to Perdition (2000), in which he played alongside Tom Hanks. For this role, he was nominated for multiple awards like the Saturn Award for the Best Performance by a Younger Actor and the young artist award for the best performance in a feature film.
He also got the role of Martin Brewer in the show 7th Heaven, 2003. He was initially booked for two episodes but ended up becoming a recurring character in the series.
He was nominated for the Teen Choice Award in 2004, for Breakout Male Star. he was further nominated for Teen Choice Award and the Young Artist Award. The schedule for this show was set up around his baseball schedule and was filmed throughout his first year of college.
He has also had many small roles which include CSI: Miami, My Boys, Castle. He made his return to the film world with his role in David DeCoteu’s Grizzly Rage.
In 2005, he was awarded a college scholarship to play baseball at Arizona State University. An injury resulted in his detour from sports to show business.
Family life and marital status
His father, Don Hoechlin, is of Swiss-German descent while his mother, Lori, has German, English, Irish, and Scottish ancestry. Tyler’s patrilineal line can be traced back to his great-great-grandfather, Conrad C. Hoechlin, who was born, c. 1839, in Switzerland. He has two brothers named Tanner and Travis and a sister named Carrie.
Tyler has an athletic body type. He is six feet tall and has a weight of 86kgs. He has gorgeous dark brown hair and sparkling grey eyes. He is into fitness maintenance and has followed a very healthy diet.
