Early Life and Career
Bergeron was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts. He first worked in Haverhill, Massachusetts as the local radio station WHAV and a disc jockey in broadcasting. In the early 1980s on Portsmouth’s WHEB, the Seacoast area’s new DJ in New Hampshire made him popular. There he gave unusual interviews and played some comedy records along with the music. His popularity led him to prepare himself for many other radios as well as TV auditions.
Being the host of Granite State Challenge, the local game show on New Hampshire Public Television which was being produced at NHPTV flagship station WENH-TV was one of his first jobs as a television host. He moved to the Boston market in February 1982, Tom joined WBZ-TV after moving to the Boston market in the year 1982 as an on-air personality in general. He also worked as a contributor for the Evening Magazine from 1982 to 1987 which was one of his early roles in the station. At the time of WBZ’s daytime lineup from 1983 to 1987, within a span of every 30 minutes, he hosted some small international and show preview subdivisions known as 4 Today.
The hosting spot in 1984 on Lottery Live, the nightly drawings of the Massachusetts State Lottery games were given to Bergeron. Bergeron added People Are Talking to his responsibilities in January 1987 while he was still working in the other roles he had acquired previously. In the early afternoon talk show, the host Buzz Luttrell was replaced by Bergeron where he immediately gained even more popularity amongst the audiences. Ron Cantera until its cancellation in and around 1988 took over as the host of 4 Today and replaced Beregnon. Bergeron remained as the lottery host until in August 1987 the drawings moved to WNEV-TV. Between the periods of 1987 and 1989, WBZ’s weekend morning teenage discussion series Rap Around was originally hosted by Bergeron.
According to Bergeron, his successful career for more than a period of 30 years as a television game host and a popular personality is credited to him practicing Transcendental Meditation regularly. His discussion of the practice of transcendental meditation was with Dan Harris in 10 Percent Happier and The Fifth Dimension: A Mindfulness Podcast gained him more popularity throughout the world.
