Country music is a special musical genre that originated with blues, church music which may include Southern gospel and spirituals, and American folk music form. Ashley is also a songwriter. Ashley was born on July 29. 1983 in Saddle, Arkansas. She spent her childhood days in Arkansas. Later she moved to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue a music career.
In an interview, she stated that in her childhood days, she spent a very strict life as her father was a preacher. From her childhood days, she began to be interested in music. Often she played her father’s guitar, though her family bought her a new guitar.
McBryde rhythmed her first song at age 12 and desired to become a singer and songwriter. She went to bluegrass festivals with her mother, where she got more inspiration to start her music career.
McBryde attended Arkansas State University where she started studying french horn. Ashley recalled once in an interview that she was quite disinterested in her studies. So her professor encouraged her to drop from college and to start her musical journey.
In her early life, Ashley started performing regularly in various clubs situated in nearby Memphis, Tennessee. Later in the year 2006, she released an eponymous demo album. To continue her musical journey, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee.
She started working with the band named Deadhorse and started working at any program she got to attend. She performed in various well-known places like “biker bars”, “hangouts”. To maintain her daily expenditure, she started working in a day job at Guitar Center. In 2009 and 2010, she achieved the top position in the annual Country Showdown talent competition. Also, she won Tennessee’s statewide “Battle of the Bands” contest.
Again in 2011, she released her second demo album titled Elsebound by herself. She started performing in various countries, where she was performing in an open concert like other well-known artists like Willie Nelson, Chris Stapleton, and Chris Cagle.
In the year 2016, the extended play (EP) “Jalopies & Expensive Guitars” was released by her. To work with a disco, she changed her appearance like straightening her hair et cetera. Her performance on “Bible and a .44” has gone viral which led her to get more concert invitations.
In September 2017, McBryde signed a recording contract with the label Warner Music Nashville with the support of Cris Lacy (the vice president of Warner Music Nashville).
For the very first time in 2017, McBryde’s debut single titled “A Little Dive Bar in Dahlonega” was released by Warner Music. Immediately after release, the track became the highest downloaded track taking higher positions on iTunes. Also, the song took the position of number 30 on both Billboard’s Country Airplay and Hot Country Songs charts. The song became so famous among people that it was named “one of the 54 Best Songs of 2017” by The New York Times, and “one of the Top 25 Best Country Songs” of 2017 by “Rolling Stone”.
After one year in March 2018, her studio album named “Girl Going Nowhere” was released under the banner of Warner Music. Her voice and singing techniques received a lot of appreciation from critics across the country. This album later spawned the title track as a single, which took the position in the Country Airplay top 40.
For the first time, McBryde made her appearance at the Grand Ole Opry in the year 2017 which led her to receive a nomination from the Grammy Awards. McBryde acquired the Academy of Country Music’s “New Female Artist of the Year” award. Later she also achieved the Country Music Association’s “New Artist of the Year” award.
In the year 2019, she paired up with George Strait and Little Big Town on several concert dates. Ashley’s other single titled “One Night Standards” became the first top 20 single on the Billboard Country Airplay and also on the Country Songs charts. In April 2020, her second studio album named “Never Will” was released.
This second studio album and lead single led McBryde to achieve more nominations from the Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association. She was planning for a live concert, but the covid-19 pandemic stopped her from doing so. So she released a live EP named “Never Will: Live from a Distance”. In September 2021, she collaborated with Carly Pearce on the duet “Never Wanted to Be That Girl”.
Ashley’s musical genre was rock, bluegrass, country pop, and country rock. When she was asked about her influencers who inspired Ashley throughout her musical journey, she stated the names of Mary Chapin Carpenter, Charlie Daniels, Patty Loveless, Dolly Parton, and Hank Williams.

Ashley’s parents are William C. McBryde, Martha A. Wilkins. She has grown with her siblings William Clayton McBryde Jr and Aubrie McBryde. Her brother passed away at the age of 53 in 2018.
Ashley had to postpone some of her concerts in September 2021, as she fell off a horse and got a severe head injury and she needed to undergo a small operation on her scalp.
