Introduction
Robert Sheehan is an Irish actor whose most popular roles include that of Nathan Young in Misfits and Klaus Hargreeves in the Umbrella Academy. He is also known for his roles in movies such as Mortal Engines and The Mortal Instruments- City of Bones. According to the list of Ireland’s Greatest Film Actors of The Irish Times, Robert Sheehan is on number 41. He has received various awards and nominations in his acting career as well.
Career
Sheehan appeared in auditions for the movie Song for a Raggy Boy at the age of fourteen and won the role of O’Reilly 58 and spent three months in Cork for the shooting of the movie. He also got roles in short films like An Cuainin and A Dublin Story in 2003 as well as Duncan’s son and Clocker respectively. Then he joined a theater group called Laois Open Door theater group and played the role of a crippled boy in a theater piece titled The Cripple of Inishmaan which is a dark comedy by Martin McDonagh. He also appeared on the tv show Foreign Exchange at the age of sixteen in 2005. The following year, he appeared as King Louis XIV of France in the series Young Blades, a historical fantasy TV series that was aired on Pax TV and was loosely based on the novel The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas.
In 2006, he appeared as Tim in the movie Ghostwood, a supernatural thriller movie, and then as Danny in the movie Summer of the Flying Saucer, an Irish family film, in 2008. In the same year, he appeared in a short movie called Lowland Fell as Mark. He also appeared in minor roles in TV series like The Clinic, a popular Irish medical drama, in which he appeared as Shane Hunter, and in Bel’s Boys, a British children’s series, in which he played the role of Max. In 2008, he appeared as the apprentice in the episode Everything Is Beautiful in the popular TV series The Tudors. He also appeared as Addison Teller in the Rock Rivals and as Liam in a miniseries titled Bitter Sweet, a comedy-drama.
Then he appeared in another miniseries the following year as the character of BJ in the series titled Red Riding. He recalls this role as a weighty role that believes that this role helped in shaping his career. He also appeared in the British movie Cherrybomb in which he played the character of Luke, who was one of the lead characters. He then got the role of Nathan Young in the British science-fiction comedy-drama series called Misfitsand worked with the show for a year. He then got cast as Jason in an episode of a British anthology series called Coming Up. In 2011, he appeared in four movies. He voiced the character of Ray in a Belgian-French animated movie for children in the English language called A Turtle’s Tale: Sammy’s Adventures. He also played the role of Archie Eden in a British slasher movie called Demons Never Die in 2011. He also appeared as Kay in an American supernatural action-adventure movie called Season of the Witch alongside stars like Nicola Cage and Ron Perlman. He was cast as Ivan McCormick in a comedy movie Killing Bono which was based on Neil McCormick’s memoir was published in 2003 by the name of Killing Bono: I Was Bono’s Doppelganger. He appeared in a television film in 2011 as well as the character of Spiller in the movie The Borrowers which was loosely based on Mary Norton’s novel of the same name and was released on the day after Christmas on BBC One.
He also played the role of Darren Tracey in the Irish drama called Love/Hate. He worked with this show for three years, from 2010 to 2013, appearing in 16 episodes in total. In 2012, he was seen as Stephen Cartwright in two episodes of Accused, another British anthology series. He also played the role of Billy in a British comedy called Me and Mrs. Jones. In 2013, he appeared as Simon Lewis, one of the main characters in the movie The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones movie adapted from the Mortal Instrument series by Cassandra Clare. He was then cast as Eli in an Italian drama movie called Anita B. and as Vincent Rhoads in an American movie called The Road Within. He also appeared as Leon in Moonwalkers, a french comedy movie, and as Jack in a British supernatural horror mystery movie called The Messenger. In 2016, he appeared as Lee in the movie Jet Trash, of which he was also the producer. He then appeared as Roland in Three summers, Duncan Taylor in Geostorm, and Nikolai in The Song of Sway Lake in 2017. He also appeared in series like Fortitude, Genius: Picasso, and in the Christmas special of The Young Offenders. In 2018, he was seen as Luba in the movie Mute, Sean Falco in the movie Bad Samaritan, and Tom Natsworthy in Mortal Engines. He is currently working with the Netflix superhero series titled The Umbrella Academy as the main cast in which he plays the role of Klaus Hargreeves.
He has been nominated several times for Irish Film and Television Academy awards. He was also nominated for BAFTA in the category of Supporting Actor for his role as Nathan Young in Misfits. He was honored by the Literary and Historical Society of University College Dublin and also received the Burke Medal Medal for Contribution to Discourse Through The Arts from Trinity College.
Early life School and Education.
He attended St. Paul’s school in Portlaoise. He was in primary school when he developed an interest in acting as he played the character of Oliver in Oliver with a Twist. He appeared in an audition at the age of fourteen and he studied at Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology where he studied film and television.

He was born in Portlaoise, Ireland, and lives in London. He has two older siblings. He also lived in Lose Angeles and although is vocal about experimenting with his sexuality in his younger years, he identifies as heterosexual.
