INTRODUCTION
Sam Claflin, whose full name is Samuel George Claflin was born on 27 June 1986. He is an English actor. He began his career in acting after he graduated from a university for fine arts. His first role on television was the character of Philip Swift in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. His rise to fame grew when he played the role of Finnick Odair in the film The Hunger Games.
CAREER
Sam made his first appearance in acting in 2010, in the movie, The Pillars of the Earth, as Richard and in another called Any Human Heart, as young Logan Mountstuart. The following year in March he was cast as Thomas in the Seventh Son which was a film adaptation of The Spook’s Apprentice but was soon unknowingly replaced by Ben Barnes. In the same year, he played the role of a footballer Ducan Edwards in the BBC TV drama United in which he was centered on the events of the 1958 Munich air disaster.
In the year 2010 April he was cast as Philip Swift a missionary who falls in love with the mermaid, Sirena in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides which was the fourth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean series. This role in the movie earned him his nomination in the 17th Empire Awards for the Best Male Newcomer. He appeared in the 6th episode of the mini-series of White Heat and later that year played the supporting role in the movie Snow White and the Huntsman as William, who was Snow white’s childhood friend. In 2012 he had also been nominated for the Teen Choice Awards for the category Best Movie Breakout and was cast in the lead role The Quiet Ones which was then released in April 2014.
Sam reprised the role as William, Snow White’s childhood friend in several scenes of the sequel the Huntsman Winter’s War in 2016 and also starred in Me Before You, the film adaptation of the novel of the same name in which he played William Taynor, in the same year.
He also joined the fifth season of the BBC Television drama Peaky Blinders as the British fascist politician, Oswald Mostly, in 2018. The following year he started in the movie called The Corrupted and in 2020 he starred in the next Netflix original film Enola Holmes as Mycroft Holmes who was the oldest brother of the title character.
EARLY LIFE
Sam was born in Ipswich. Sam and his siblings grew up in Norwich, Norfolk. When he was younger his most prized interest was football which he played throughout his childhood but unfortunately broke his ankle which was a severe one and prevented him from playing football on a professional level.
After a lot of persuasion from his parents and a high school teacher, whom he likes a lot, he built his career in acting. He took up Performing Arts at the Norwich City College and was a member of the Norwich City School of Excellence in 2003. In 2009 he graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts.

His son’s name is Pip Claflin and his daughter’s name is Margot Claflin.
