Clarence is an American film producer, musician, and entrepreneur. He was born on February 25, 1931 (age 88) in Greensboro, North Carolina, U.S. Clarence Avant is also known as The Black Godfather. Clearance father is abusive so to avoid him he moved to New Jersey with his aunt when he was just 16 years old.
In 1950, he started his music business as a manager in New Jersey. As a manager, he worked with Little Willie John, Kim Weston, Luiz Bonfa, Curtis Fuller and Sara Vaughn. In 1964, he opened a West Coast office. He also worked as a board member and advisor for National Association of Radio Announcers (NARA).
In 1966 Clarence Avant incorporated Sussex Productions, Inc. in New York. In 1967, he also worked for Venture Records Inc. In 1967 he married Jacqueline “Jackie” Alberta Gray. They have 2 children Nicole and Alexander Dubois Avant.
